Job Summary :
The Logistics Planner is responsible for executing and optimizing transportation processes, ensuring cost efficiency, timely deliveries, and meeting customer service requirements. The role involves using various transportation software systems, preparing logistics schedules, managing freight claims, and collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure seamless material movement and effective logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities :
Execute and optimize transport operations, considering cost, service requirements, and other planning parameters (e.g., lead times).
Utilize various transportation software systems for material movement, planning, and scheduling, including load planning tools.
Prepare and update weekly logistics schedules to ensure on-time deliveries to customer locations and coordinate product pick-up with suppliers.
Track and trace cargo in transit until Proof of Delivery (POD) is received.
Communicate shipment status to logistics, product lines, and sales teams as needed.
Collaborate closely with transport service providers to ensure efficient execution of logistics processes.
Assist in obtaining transport permits and preparing necessary transportation paperwork.
Support the development and implementation of improved logistics processes and systems.
Coordinate with the Customer Service team to optimize load selection and address any issues impacting pickup and delivery.
Establish route guidance and work on carrier rationalization.
Collaborate with sourcing on pricing for high-volume lanes.
Receive and audit freight invoices, ensuring accuracy.
Monitor and assess carriers’ performance using scorecards.
Proactively engage with internal and external customers to address concerns or complaints related to logistics performance, schedule, or customer service quality.
Understand market and business evolution to ensure logistics routing solutions are aligned with customer needs, balancing time and cost.
Manage freight claims and coordinate last-mile deliveries for air freight and ocean shipments.
Preferred Qualifications :
Advanced desktop computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Experience in production scheduling, distribution, materials, and inventory planning is a plus.
Experience with freight settlement and transport market knowledge, including equipment, port and airport operations, as well as relevant restrictions and regulations.
Knowledge of carrier operating models.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks in a dynamic environment.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Experience working with advanced TMS platforms and JDE (preferred).
Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency.
Team player with flexibility in working different shifts.
Knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations (a plus).
