Job Description : Assist with DRG’s urban forestry master plan projects. The Urban Forestry Planner will work with DRG project leaders to plan and implement all phases and components of urban forestry projects.

Job Duties

Responsibilities : The Urban Forestry Planner will assist with project management / tracking, administrative duties, stakeholder meetings, public surveys, research, data collection and analysis, graphics, and plan preparation (writing, editing) along with other related duties. You will be an integral member of a project team and may participate and assist in meetings with municipal officials, community organizations, advisory committees, and other government agencies. Depending on client budgets, travel may be required.

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications :

An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required.

  • Interest, background and / or experience in urban planning, arboriculture, urban forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture, and / or environmental resources is preferred.
  • Experience with municipal forestry is preferred.
  • Direct planning experience is preferred.
  • Two or Four-year degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Sciences, Communications, Forestry, Urban Forestry, or a related discipline and / or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to travel within the U.S. (travel costs to be paid by the company).
  • Ability to work flexible hours at home office.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently and / or as part of a larger team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage teammates with a positive attitude to support teamwork, solutions, and quality products and client deliverables.
  • High proficiency in English (writing and speaking) is required.
  • Working knowledge of computers and GIS systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Pro (PDF) is preferred.
  • ISA certification (Arborist, Municipal Specialist, TRAQ) preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Additional Information

Full-time position. Compensation based on qualifications and experience.
