Location : South Hospital 5200 E I240 Service Rd OKC OK 73135 Shift : Full time, Days, Nights Responsibilities Under the director of the Ultrasound Manager and / or Supervising Physician the Sonographer will serve as a medical imgaing professional providing clinically relevant information to assist the physician with the diagnosis and treatment of patients by utilizing independent judgement and initiative. A Sonographer activities are performed consistent with their education and training, in accordance with facility policies and procedures, provides personalized care and recognizing the worth and dignity of each patient, handles confidential information regarding patients, and will perform all work with accordance to the mission, vision and values of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Sonographers will work scheduled shifts throughout the week. By chance some shifts are not staffed, then work schedules may change. The Ultrasound Manager will arrange work schedules to ensure patients will receive high quality ultrasound procedures. Hospital based positions will require call and holiday rotation for continual coverage after normal working hours. Primary Duties : Assists in the care of patients by providing timely, accurate, and precise patient testing results. After performing an ultrasound procedure, will then document required information and communicate pertinent information to primary physicians and to direct patient care staff. Collaborates with staff, physicians, patients and family members to provide information necessary to provide quality care. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with co-workers, administrators and members of the health care team. Performs high quality ultrasound procedures in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulatory guidelines, and defined turn-around-times. Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infections disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures. Performs and documents required quality control and instrument maintenance procedures according to established policies, procedures, and regulations to assure accurate, reliable results. Ensures that high quality images are manipulated and labeled correctly before they enter into the PACS System. Forwards images to the appropriate reading, viewing, and storage sites. Evaluates any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient's inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination and associated procedures. Apply independent, professional, ethical judgement and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic sonography procedures. As necessary, acquire additional ultrasound imaging to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for the interpreting physician. Document any incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care and provide that information to the interpreting physician. Ensure that the sonography examinations results meet the facility standards for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation. Exercise responsibility to ensure that the ultrasound equipment is functioning accurately. Review examination images, synthesized examination results, and prepares the preliminary findings. Qualifications Education : Graduate of an approved school of Ultrasound Licensure / Certification : Current ARDMS or CCI or registry eligible and pass registry within one year of date of hire; and BLS certification Experience : Documented competency in echo and non-invasive vascular imaging. One (1) year of experience preferred. Working Knowledge : Can manipulate the ultrasound equipment to adequately perform general, vascular, and echocardiogram exams. Can detect abnormal pathology and image the pathology. After finishing an ultrasound study, capable of sending high quality exams to the PACS System and then completing studies in the Cerner Computer System.
