Job description

The Opportunity

The Ally Supply Chain organization is seeking a strategic and operationally savvy Director of Vendor Management to lead the consolidation and centralization of vendor management activities currently federated across our business lines. This is a critical leadership role focused on unifying existing practices, people, and processes into a single, cohesive vendor management function bringing consistency, efficiency, and stronger oversight to our third-party relationships. Reporting to the Head of Sourcing, this leader will work within a third-party risk management (TPRM) framework, including established policies, standards, and compliance requirements, and will be responsible for operationalizing that framework through a newly centralized vendor management model within Ally Supply Chain. The focus is not building policy from scratch, but rather driving adoption, alignment, and execution across the organization. Experience in financial services is strongly preferred, as our vendor landscape includes highly regulated and compliance-sensitive partnerships.

The Work Itself

  • Lead the design, build, pilot and scaling of a consolidated vendor management function through partnerships with business line leaders and stakeholders to transition responsibilities and enhance existing third-party framework.
  • Standardize vendor onboarding, performance monitoring, and offboarding processes in alignment with existing TPRM policies.
  • Establish a consistent governance cadence including KPIs, SLAs, scorecards, business reviews, and escalation protocols across all vendor relationships.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the vendor management team and the existing third-party risk management function.
  • Ensure consistent application of due diligence, risk assessment, and audit requirements across vendor relationships.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, Risk, and business unit leaders to align vendor strategy with organizational needs.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in vendor relationships and service delivery.
  • Manage and develop a team of vendor management professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.

The Skills You Bring

Minimum Qualifications
  • 9+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in vendor management, procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management.
  • Financial services industry experience is strongly preferred along with experience managing technology vendors.
  • Demonstrated experience centralizing or consolidating a federated vendor management function.
  • Experience operating within an established TPRM or risk governance framework, executing policy requirements.
  • Experience leading and developing a vendor management team.
  • Track record of managing complex, multi-vendor portfolios across enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with change management principles as they apply to organizational consolidation and process standardization.
  • Strong financial acumen including cost-benefit analysis, budget management, and spend analytics.
  • Proficiency with vendor management software and contract lifecycle management systems (e.g., Coupa, CLM, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to develop executive-level presentations and reporting.
#LI-Hybrid
