SUMMARY : The BankUnited Capital Markets Interest Rate Derivatives and Foreign Exchange Team deliver risk management strategies, product structuring solutions, and international payments. The Corporate Treasury team is seeking an experienced Middle Office Associate that will provide middle and back-office operations for the Capital Markets Derivatives & Foreign Exchange Team. This role requires a solid understanding of international payments, derivative instruments, current regulatory developments, and the legal framework surrounding derivatives. This role is responsible for processing transactions that support Capital Markets Sales & Trading and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask with strong communication skills. Additional responsibilities include communicating with clients, confirming and advising on internal payment status and investigations, reviewing and advising clients on payment instructions, handling post trade documentation, and reconciling monthly payments. and reviewing related processes and procedures. A key focus of the role will be identifying and implementing opportunities to improve operational efficiency across middle and back-office functions. Additionally, the associate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of procedures and workflows.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
- Trade Validation & Reporting : support FX Spot transactions, Forward Contracts, NDFs, Interest Rate Derivatives, etc. Monitor trade lifecycles, including pre and post trade capture, confirmations, settlements, international payments, SWIFT messaging, and wire investigations. Manage the execution and clearing of derivatives trades (Rates & FX), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Risk Management & Compliance : Assist in the implementation of risk management strategies to mitigate market and operational risk associated with derivatives and foreign exchange. Ensure all transactions comply with internal risk management guidelines and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the Risk and Compliance teams to mitigate any potential risks related to the transactions.
- Reporting & Analysis : Provide regular reports on operational activity to senior management as needed. Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation to improve efficiency. Stay up to date with relevant regulations and ensure that all derivatives and international sales and trading activities comply with applicable laws (including OFAC and Dodd-Frank). Assist in systems and platform upgrades to our derivatives and foreign exchange management system.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and drive customer satisfaction, share findings and recommendations with management.
- Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
- Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
- Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree required.
