The production manager is an experienced professional directing the activities of all production team members. The production manager handles scheduling, ordering / procurement, resource allocation, team member development and assisting sales department in determining potential client enhancement opportunities. The position requires strong communication skills, is well organized, and possesses the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Responsibilities Plans and manages both 3 month board and daily board schedules for construction and maintenance divisions. Assigns tools and equipment to teams to provide maximum efficiency. Coordinates schedule adjustments with sales department as needed Orders, procures and coordinates materials and equipment for all projects / services. Schedules deliveries in accordance with current production schedule. Schedules and manages subcontractors. Assists crews as needed to meet production schedules. Reviews daily time sheets, completed work orders and other management reports, takes action or makes recommendations to management to correct variances outside expected results. Reviews all jobs and completes job cost analysis. Assists sales department with job cost estimating. Organizes and schedules all team member training. Trains team members in proper safety, horticultural, construction, equipment operation, and snow / ice management techniques / policies. Schedules and manages snow / ice management activities. Provide updates to team members on latest snow plan, weather, and changing conditions. Monitors crew performance, conducts periodic crew performance evaluations, and documents all personnel actions. Assists management with hiring decisions. Monitors quality of work by periodically inspecting job sites. Meets with clients or client representatives to assure expectations are being met. By means of observation and client contact, recommends enhancement opportunities to the sales team. Assists management in renewal and sales estimating for maintenance contracts. Maintains fleet and facilities, material storage areas, equipment storage. Schedules service and repairs with mechanic to avoid disruption of production schedule and maintain high quality equipment. Tracks repairs and maintenance and assists with reporting / analysis of fleet / facilities. Supports the company’s mission, goals and strategies. Assists with other duties for the good of team members and the company. Experience and Qualifications This position requires a two or four year degree in landscape, construction, horticulture, or related field, plus two years experience as a supervisor in the horticulture industry. Working knowledge of standard horticultural practices and cultural requirements is required along with a solid understanding of landscape construction concepts. Candidate must be proficient in the use of computers and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including Word and Excel. Aspire, or similar landscape industry specific software experience preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills, supervisory skills and a mechanical aptitude are a must. Candidate must have excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. Ability to communicate in English, bi-lingual speaking is a plus (Spanish). Ideal candidate will have or be willing and interested in obtaining industry certification(s). Valid driver’s license. Able to work closely with management, salespersons, landscape designers, other team leaders, department heads, and clients.
