POSITION SUMMARY :

The Production Roaster position at Black & White Coffee Roasters is a full-time, hourly position. As Production Roaster, you will work closely with the roasting team and Head Roaster to ensure the execution of our high standards of roast consistency and excellence in flavor development. This includes production roasting, weighing, and blending coffees, roaster maintenance, quality control, inventory, communication, and teamwork. This position collaborates with the head roaster on blend creation, inventory management, QA cupping, and quality improvement systems. This position reports to the Head Roaster.

JOB OVERVIEW :

Roasting team members work in a warehouse environment and are responsible for roasting coffee on a Loring 15k, 35k, and 70k roaster. This job requires endurance and consistency throughout the work day. Team Members generally work Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday, 7 : 00 a.m. until 5 : 00 p.m.; however these hours can vary on lighter or heavier production days. Successful team members are extremely organized self starters with attention to detail and a positive attitude.

Summary of duties and responsibilities :

• Completing daily roasts ranging in size from small to large batches and corresponding production machinery (Loring 15K, 35k 70K)
• Operate Optical Sorter and contribute to daily sorting of roasted coffee.
• Maintain a consistently high level of communication with the head roaster and other team members.
• Participate in quality control sessions with the head roaster and quality control team.
• Ensure for a safe, proper and extremely clean work environment, while complying with necessary food and safety guidelines at all times.
• Assist in organizing and cleaning of roasting and green coffee workspaces. Including maintainingall equipment and tools used in the day to day operation of the roasting department to both maintain standards and for preventative maintenance

Prior roasting experience of 1-2 years preferred.

Must be able to work independently.

An extreme level of attention to detail and focus.

Ability to perform the physical demands of roasting and lifting green and roasted coffee, including the ability to stand / walk for extended periods of time each day in a warehouse environment.

Ability to lift 40lbs unassisted or 150lbs assisted

Pay : $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
