micro1 is a data lab that helps AI labs & Enterprises train foundational models and agents. We provide frontier evaluations and reinforcement learning environments to improve LLM capabilities, as well as contextual evaluations to monitor and improve AI agents in enterprise settings.

Our AI recruiting agent sources and vets domain experts for our data platform that enables rapid production of high-quality training data. Our research spans high-value, specialized domains (legal, medical, finance, coding, etc.), where expert-level data is the hardest to produce and most valuable for advanced model performance. Job Type: Contract


Location: Remote


Job Summary: In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop full-fledged digital illustrations in Krita, from initial sketch to final polish, while adhering to best practices and structured layer management.
  2. Perform hour-long, live illustration workflows in a virtual machine, capturing each step of your process for AI training purposes.
  3. Demonstrate and articulate your creative decision-making, effectively communicating both written and verbally with the team.
  4. Collaborate closely with project coordinators to ensure workflows meet high standards and align with AI research objectives.
  5. Utilize advanced Krita features and tools, sharing insight into professional techniques and methodologies.
  6. Provide clear documentation and feedback on your workflows to support continuous improvement of AI systems.
  7. Uphold a high level of organization, structure, and quality across all artwork produced.



Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated expertise in Krita with a professional or extensive freelance portfolio showcasing complete illustration projects.
  2. Mastery in digital illustration and structured layer-based workflows from rough sketch to refined artwork.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on articulating creative processes and feedback.
  4. Hands-on experience in using Krita’s advanced features, brushes, and layer management tools.
  5. Ability to consistently work independently within virtual environments and meet project goals.
  6. Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing polished, high-quality art assets.
  7. Proven ability to document and communicate workflow steps clearly for technical and non-technical audiences.



Preferred Qualifications

  1. Previous experience training or collaborating with AI or machine learning teams on creative projects.
  2. Background in art education or content creation around digital illustration tools.
  3. Familiarity with recording and explaining digital illustration workflows for educational or research purposes.
