The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, Nampa facility is now hiring for full-time Rehabilitation Technicians .

IDJC is always looking for enthusiastic, caring and compassionate team members to join our efforts to rehabilitate the youth in our care. Shift differential available at a 5 percent increment! Requirements for being eligible are as follows :

  • Regular Work Schedules : Employees who have 50 percent or more (20 hours or more in a 40-hour work week) of their assigned hours in a work week occurring between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekdays (Monday through Friday) and hours worked on weekends (Saturday 12 : 00 AM through Sunday 11 : 59 PM)

Rehabilitation Technician's provide individual or group rehabilitative therapeutic services for delinquent youth and supervise youth in an assigned living unit. The ideal candidates are assertive individuals who are energized by working with youth. Our juveniles can be challenging, but the work is rewarding. Employees are required to model the behavior expected of the juveniles and influence them in their everyday work.

This position must attend a two-week POST academy in Meridian, Idaho. Training and time is paid by IDJC and must be completed within first year of employment.

Responsibilities :

1. Treatment :

  • Implements treatment strategies developed by treatment team
  • Conducts drug and alcohol and social skills training
  • Provides individual and group counseling Integrates daily activities with treatment goals
  • Encourages and motivates youth Acts as a role model for appropriate conduct and decision making
  • Provides input for development of treatment strategies Implements established intervention methods and facilitates problem-solving sessions by youth
  • 2. Supervision :

  • Supervises youth to ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures, daily activity schedules, protection of individual rights, and maintenance of living unit security.
  • Oversees free time and recreational activities to encourage positive group interaction.
  • Plans and leads special recreational and educational activities.
  • Assists youth with homework Intervenes in confrontations between youth to protect against injury or harassment.
  • Provides orientation to youth about policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Reports accidents, changes in health, or other emergencies to nursing staff or security.
  • Provides first aid Monitors personal hygiene of youth.
  • Assigns and supervises housekeeping duties to maintain sanitary living conditions.
  • Performs routine cleaning duties.
  • Transports offenders to other facilities, outside appointments, work or community service activities
  • May search for runaways.
  • May supervise youth in community service projects.
  • May supervise and assist in the evaluation of job coaches.
  • 3. Charting :

  • Logs observations of group and individual behavior
  • Charts treatment progress Maintains records and prepares reports.
  • Employees are responsible for supervision and control of potentially physically aggressive juveniles who may present a hazard to staff and property if appropriate intervention or security precautions are not followed. Schedules may include weekend, evening, overnight work and rotating shifts. This position requires the ability to observe, hear, and communicate verbally with juveniles; intervene and control juvenile assaultive and aggressive behavior toward themselves and others; lift, transfer and care for juveniles in emergency situations such as an evacuation from a two-story dormitory, or in a situation where first aid / CPR must be administered.

    Wage $21.72-$23.16) Rehabilitation Technician Minimum Qualifications :

  • Minimum 6 months of working knowledge pertaining to individual and group behavior of youth; recreational activities for youth.
  • Minimum 6 months of working knowledge of instilling values and motivating youth in learning positive life skills; using a personal computer to enter, retrieve and edit information.
  • Meet entrance requirements established by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) academy for correction officers including the following : Be at least 21 years of age Be eligible for and in good standing to obtain a POST certification within 12 months of hire Possess a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • For those that served in the military, must have a discharge indicating honorable, uncharacterized, or general under honorable conditions Hold a current and valid driver's license in your state of residence Be a U.S. Citizen No conviction, withheld judgment, suspicion or imposed conviction of the following : See POST IDAPA Code 11.11.01 for more information.
  • A felony age eighteen (18) years old or older at the time of conviction A misdemeanor DUI within the last 2 years or had 2 or more misdemeanor DUI within the last 2 years or had 2 or more misdemeanor DUI offenses within 5 years immediately preceding application. A misdemeanor crime involving domestic violence within the last 5 years preceding this application. A misdemeanor crime of deceit or a misdemeanor sex offense within the last 5 years preceding this application. A misdemeanor drug-related offense within one (1) year immediately preceding this application.
  • No purchase or possession of marijuana, cannabis, hashish, hash oil, or THC in synthetic and natural forms marijuana within one (1) year immediately preceding job application.
  • Willingness to : deal with violence, harassment, threats, verbal abuse; break up fights, control disturbances, and physically restrain offenders; perform searches for contraband and weapons; work alone unarmed among unrestricted offenders; work in secure / locked facility in confined spaces; learn and follow department policies, procedures, rules, and instructions; set aside personal prejudices and be fair; work in high-stress, hostile environments; transport juveniles; become certified in CPR.
  • Physical requirements : no hearing, sight, or physical limitations that would prevent performance of duties.
  • Meet Federal Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Juvenile Facility Standards and must never have been the subject of the following : Been the perpetrator of sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution; Been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; Been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse. D. Had allegations substantiated against me for an incident(s) of sexual harassment, sexual abuse, and / or child abuse against another person; Resigned from a job where I was the subject of a pending investigation being conducted for an allegation of sexual abuse against another person.
