SCOPE OF VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT INTERN WORK :
This internship is located within the New York / New Jersey Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) Office located on West 38 th Street, Manhattan, New York. The Community Relations Intern will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator(s) and Community Relations Officer under the Development and Communications Department at RAI.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Community Relations Intern will help the volunteer coordinator(s) recruit, screen, train, and supervise recruited volunteers, and mentors; provide on-going support and guidance;
Assist Volunteer Coordinator in maintaining accurate, up-to-date data across pertinent databases;
Record and analyze program data pertaining to volunteers and interns.
Compile and post volunteer and intern descriptions as needed;
Assist in managing volunteer and intern timesheets and timesheet entries each month.
Conduct outreach, networking activities, and other advertising to recruit and educate, volunteers, and partners as needed.
Help oversee the onboarding and exit process for all interns and volunteers. This includes processing background checks, setting up and closing IRC accounts, leading general orientation sessions, and managing other situations as needed.
Help liaise actively with program managers and other staff members on intern / volunteer opportunities for their respective programs.
REQUIREMENTS :
Previous volunteer management, recruitment, or administrative roles is strongly preferred
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with Salesforce database management system is a plus.
Cultural sensitivity and detail oriented with the proven ability to meet deadlines
Ability to effectively communicate and work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment
Willing to adhere to IRC volunteer and workplace policies.
