Job Description
The Charleston School of Law seeks resumes for the full-time Staff Accountant position to assist the accounting department with budgeting, forecasting, and monthly closing processes. The ideal candidate will support the accounting department by ensuring adherence to policies and procedures and assisting the CFO with year-end audit, and continuous compliance tasks throughout the year.
This position will also be responsible for facilitating the timely, efficient, and accurate completion of all aspects of accounts payable by utilizing appropriate technology tools. The staff accountant will serve as a contributing team member to the ongoing success and efficiency of the department through engaged collaboration and continued process improvement.
Important responsibilities for this position include processing all invoices for payment, maintaining vendor and other accounting files, and reconciling all accounts. The staff accountant will be responsible for negotiating discounts and optimal terms while also working with faculty and staff to ensure appropriate approvals have been obtained and documentation received for all payments.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, value confidentiality, and possess analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications and Requirements :
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in accounting.
- Experience with QuickBooks (or equivalent) and excel are preferred.
- Excellent data entry skills and accuracy are required
- Confidentiality, organizational, and communication skills are essential as is the ability to work well with others.
