Job Summary :
Carnegie Corporation of New York was founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1911 and is one of the country's oldest grantmaking foundations. As stated in our charter, our mission is to promote the advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding.
Today our foundation works to reduce political polarization through philanthropic support for the issues that our founder considered most important : education, democracy, and peace.
Carnegie Corporation seeks to hire a Content Manager who will report to the Senior Content Editor and Writer in the Communications Department and will be responsible for facilitating the philanthropic foundation’s content production. This role will be responsible for overseeing the workflows and quality control, editing and drafting copy in adherence with style guides, and managing freelance contributors to deliver foundation content for digital, social, multimedia, and print.
Responsibilities :
- Workflow Manager : Manage content pipeline using project management tools and production calendars to track progress, schedule reviews, secure approvals, and ensure on-time delivery of Carnegie digital and print content, reports, campaigns, and other assets.
- Quality Control : Copy edit content and incorporate edits from colleagues with acute attention to accuracy, clarity, and consistency, as well as best practices for SEO, social engagement, and user experience. Own and update the foundation’s style guide.
- Assigning Editor : Working with the Senior Content Editor and Writer, identify, develop, and manage freelance writers and editors to ensure on-time deliverables. Work with assigned writers and editors to identify dissemination partners and help inform engagement strategies.
- Supporting Writer : Conceive and draft compelling written materials as assigned.
- Supporting Researcher : Research compelling narratives, stories, and supporting data as assigned.
- Vendor Coordinator : Manage day-to-day vendor contact, including communication with copy editors, transcription services, and book publishers, among others. Secure image and reprint permissions as needed. Assist with contracting process.
- Collaborator : Collaborate with communications colleagues on strategy and planning for a range of internal and external projects and goals.
- All other duties as assigned.

New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary hiring range posted depending on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
