Position : Life Skills Instructor - Part-Time

Location : Little Rock, AR

Schedule : Saturday - Sunday, 3 : 00 PM - 11 : 00 PM

At Community Life Services (CLS), we believe in empowering individuals with disabilities to improve their quality of life. As a Life Skills Instructor, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to help them develop essential skills for independent living.

What You'll Do :

  • Provide direct care services, including assistance with household maintenance, meal preparation, and daily living activities.
  • Support consumers in achieving their Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals, including household maintenance and meal preparation objectives.
  • Foster a positive and respectful environment at home and in the community.
  • Assist with personal hygiene and grooming as needed.
  • Manage and address consumer behaviors professionally, using effective intervention techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment by completing housekeeping tasks and ensuring kitchen sanitation according to regulations.
  • Assist in planning and participating in leisure activities at home and in the community.
  • Transport consumers as needed and ensure their safety during travel.
  • Maintain documentation, including daily goal progress, behavior incident reports, night monitoring sheets, and other required forms.
  • Communicate significant events, behavioral concerns, and emotional changes to supervisors.
  • Work in a professional capacity, upholding the philosophy and mission of CLS at all times.

Requirements :

  • Availability : Must work at least once per quarter and be available to fill in as needed.
  • Age Requirement : 18 years or older.
  • Education & Experience : High School Diploma or GED required. CNA certification preferred but not required. A minimum of six months of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Driver's License & Insurance : Valid Arkansas driver's license required.
  • Health Requirements : Current TB health card required.
  • Background Check & Drug Screening : Required for all candidates.
  • Certifications : CPR / First Aid certification required (or must obtain upon hire).
  • Communication Skills : Ability to effectively interact with individuals and understand written instructions.
  • Why This Role Matters :

    This is a safety-sensitive position, meaning your role directly affects the well-being of the individuals you support. Employees in safety-sensitive roles must not report to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol and are prohibited from testing positive for controlled substances, including those listed under Arkansas and Federal laws, regardless of medical marijuana cardholder status.

    Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, and kneel as needed.
  • Lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly, 40 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Drive in various weather conditions to transport individuals safely.
  • Work Environment :

  • You'll work in a dynamic group home setting and travel within the community.
  • The noise level is moderate, and reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
