Job description
Welder - Granite Yard Operations

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Welder to join our team at a high-volume granite stone yard. The ideal candidate will perform welding and fabrication tasks to maintain, repair, and modify stone-cutting equipment, frames, and yard infrastructure. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on steel components for stone-cutting machines, frames, and yard equipment.

- Fabricate and assemble metal structures, supports, and custom fixtures for granite processing.

- Inspect and repair broken or worn parts on saws, conveyors, and other machinery.

- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.

- Operate cutting torches, grinders, and other metalworking tools as needed.

- Ensure all welds meet strength and quality standards for heavy-duty industrial use.

- Maintain welding equipment and perform routine checks to ensure optimal performance.

- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage and compliance with OSHA standards.

- Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and meet operational goals.


Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent; welding certification preferred.

- Minimum 2 years of welding experience in an industrial or fabrication setting.

- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

- Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in a noisy, dusty environment.

- Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in welding and fabrication.


Working Conditions

- Busy granite yard environment with exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery.

- Requires use of PPE (welding helmet, gloves, steel-toe boots, etc.).

- Ability to work overtime or weekends as needed to meet production deadlines.
