We are seeking a Senior Inspector to support our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CE&I) services for transportation and infrastructure projects. This is a skilled sub-professional engineering position involving both field and office duties. The Senior Inspector will act as an Assistant Project Manager, providing oversight and direction to project inspectors, and reporting directly to the Project Manager. The role requires strong knowledge of construction inspection methods, documentation, surveying, and drafting techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
· Direct and coordinate daily activities of inspection staff on active construction projects
· Review inspector documentation for accuracy and completeness
· Perform field inspections to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and ALDOT standards
· Utilize surveying and drafting skills to support inspection documentation
· Assist in resolving field issues by coordinating with contractors, project managers, and clients
· Maintain organized records of inspection reports, testing logs, and work zone compliance
· Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including DCS staff, ALDOT personnel, and contractors
Requirements:· Eight (8) years of experience in construction inspection, surveying, or highway materials testing
OR Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with two
(2) years of experience in construction inspection, surveying, or highway materials testing
· Ability to lead inspection teams and coordinate day-to-day CE&I tasks
· Familiarity with ALDOT specifications, documentation procedures, and testing requirements
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, drafting/surveying software)
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from job sites
One or more of the following may be required depending on project assignment:
· Asphalt Level I Laboratory Technician Certification
· Asphalt Level II Quality Management Technician Certification
· Certified Concrete Technician (ACI and ALDOT)
· Roadway HMA Pavement Technician Certification
· Work Zone Safety Certification
· Radiation Safety Technician Certification
· Qualified Credentialed Inspector (QCI)
· Contract Plan Reading Certification
