HVAC General Maintenance Workers on Camp Pendleton perform general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs of various types of commercial HVAC equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly is the primary responsibility. You may also assist workers and journeyman by performing general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping them supplied with materials and tools; holding materials and tools; and cleaning working area, machines, or equipment. The ideal EMI HVAC General Maintenance Worker performs any task as instructed while following all health and safety standards.
Salary
$23.23/ hr. plus $4.93 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions
- Inspect drives, motors, pulleys and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists
- Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery
- Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts
- repair or replace parts and reassemble equipment
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
- Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work
- Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in HVAC in a COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRAL setting
- Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
- Use hand tools, measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices such as meters
- Use rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
- Adaptable and flexible in work situations
- Prioritizes tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner
- PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of HVAC equipment.
- Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in a variety of building and/or utility trades
- Valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act or are you willing and able to obtain one
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Regular, dependable attendance
- U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
- Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking
- Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
- Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
- Lifting and adjusting heavy objects, contact with sharp, hot and/or very cold supplies and equipment.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions.
