Job Description
Join Blue Cross NC as a Senior Actuarial Analyst, where you will leverage your expertise in mathematics, statistics, and business principles to provide essential support for intricate rating, pricing, valuation, and financial forecasting tasks. In this role, you will work autonomously within a collaborative team of actuaries to ensure a cohesive approach to the actuarial dimensions of our healthcare programs. Your work will significantly impact various departments including Network Management, Underwriting, Sales and Marketing, Finance, and Healthcare.
What You'll Do
Conduct detailed qualitative and quantitative data analysis to aid in the development of pricing models for various products and programs.
Analyze trends with moderate complexity to inform strategic decisions.
Enhance the rating process by identifying needs and building advancements in actuarial models, communicating important changes to stakeholders.
Examine and ensure the correctness of actuarial formulas.
Submit rate filings to regulatory agencies including NCDOI and CMS.
Contribute to financial valuations by modifying and executing the ALR model and performing assumption studies to evaluate reserve impacts.
Assist in preparing critical documentation such as the Annual Actuarial Memorandum, Premium Deficiency Reserve Study, and statutory results.
Generate and distribute established reports, respond to inquiries, and investigate any discernible trends or anomalies.
Support the resolution of control exceptions and maintain appropriate documentation.
Engage in project requirements gathering and act as a delegate for corporate projects, proposing innovative ideas for analytical approaches.
Plan and manage moderate to high complexity projects effectively.
Participate actively in the Actuarial Development Program.
What You Bring
A Bachelor's degree or an advanced degree, as required.
At least 4 years of relevant actuarial experience; related experience may be considered.
A minimum of 5 completed exams towards the ASA designation.
Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of exam requirements.
Additional exams toward ASA may substitute for experience requirements.
Bonus Points
Familiarity with SQL and advanced Excel - Highly Preferred
Experience in building intricate financial models - Highly Preferred
Proven experience in translating complex actuarial concepts for non-actuarial audiences and senior management.
Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and innovative problem-solving ability.

Salary Range
At Blue Cross NC, we are committed to providing a competitive and equitable compensation package, with starting salaries typically positioned near the midpoint of the cited range.
