Job Summary
The Youth Music Minister undertakes the challenge of organizing and coordinating the Youth Music Ministry efforts for the Parish so that middle school, high school, and young adult parishioners are given every opportunity to experience the life changing power of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Youth Music Minister will report directly to the Pastor, and work in collaboration with Director of Youth Ministry. The Youth Music Minister will work together with a variety of staff and parishioners to guide our youth and young families in the Church towards the way of truth by providing opportunities to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith, avail themselves to the Church’s sacraments, particularly the Holy Eucharist, foster wholesome friendships, and develop a personal prayer life in a setting that is safe, encouraging and empowering, so that they become the future leaders of the church.
Job Responsibilities
Administrative and Leadership
- Collaborate with Director of Youth Ministry with the youth, young adults, parents, pastor, associate, parish staff, core team, and surrounding parish youth ministers to assess the existing programs and direct future youth ministry programing.
- Planning and implementing music weekly for Sunday at 5 : 00 p.m. Youth Liturgy, Praise & Worship and liturgies involving the Youth’s Presence and Participation.
- Plan, Organize and Direct Musicians in the Band for Sunday, 5 : 00 p.m. Youth Weekly Liturgy. Collaborate with Director of Music Ministry to align with Liturgical / Music needs of the parish
- Create, develop and maintain a comprehensive Youth Ministry Music Program for the Junior High, and High School liturgies.
- Collaborate with Director of Youth Ministry to Co-Plan, co-direct and oversee the Youth Ministry Meetings on Sunday & Wednesday evenings.
- Communicate and be active in relational ministry with youth and their families.
- Work with Director to supervise expenditures and approves / makes recommendations on contracts for youth ministry events.
- Ensures that parish and diocesan guidelines within Protecting God’s Children Programs are followed
- Maintain an ongoing knowledge of trends and resources in youth ministry.
- Invite, gather and lead the youth in regularly planned programs through music.
- Collaborate and Co-coordinate youth volunteers for the Youth Sunday Mass
