Dining Specialist (PRN- As Needed)

Position Purpose

The Dining Specialist supports the emotional and physical well-being of Adult Day and Memory Care participants by assisting with meal service dining room setup sanitation and overall dining operations. This role is focused on dining and hospitality support and works closely with leadership staff to create a positive welcoming mealtime experience.

Required Experience

Minimum of one (1) year of experience working directly with older adults

Experience working with individuals with memory impairment is strongly preferred

Key Responsibilities

Assist with preparing dining areas for meals and snacks including setting tables with silverware and paper products

Support meal service by assisting with food setup plating and tray distribution

Ensure special diet needs are followed as directed by leadership staff

Monitor dining areas during meals and encourage participants as needed

Communicate observations or concerns to leadership staff in a timely manner

Assist participants with transitions after meals and prepare spaces for scheduled activities

Clean and reset dining areas after each meal; wash clothing protectors as needed

Support compliance with CACFP guidelines sanitation standards and best practices

Order dining-related supplies as needed

Assist with general housekeeping throughout the center including dining and program spaces

Maintain a clean sanitary environment in compliance with OSHA and certification requirements

Protect participant privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies

Qualifications

Experience in dining services hospitality food service or a similar setting preferred

Must be at least 18 years of age

Dependable responsible and able to work PRN hours as scheduled

Caring individual who relates well to older adults including those with memory impairment

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team

Note : CNA certification is not required for this position.

Physical Requirements

Must present a written medical statement completed within the prior 12 months confirming ability to perform job duties

Ability to talk hear write bend stoop reach and stretch

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally

Continuous walking and / or standing required throughout shifts
