RESPONSIBILITIESI. JOB SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES : - Assists the pharmacist in the processing and filling of prescriptions and medication / medical supply orders. Reviews and enters orders & patient information into the pharmacy computer system. Processes and assists in the maintenance of pharmacy inventory. Performs sales transactions and provides customers / patients with information about medications, health insurance, and other health care related services. Files third-party insurance claims on paper and electronically.II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS : - Essential : standing for long periods of time, walking, stooping / bending, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking; lifting usual weight of 3 pounds;- Frequent : reaching above, at and below shoulder level; repetitive arm / hand motion; frequent gripping of an object.- Occasional : lifting weight of 20 pounds; pushing / pulling usual weight of 40 pounds;- Operates various office / pharmaceutical equipment such as typewriter, computer, copier, fax, telephones, calculator, cash register, dispensing machines, etc.III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS : - Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.- Some exposure to cold temperature from freezer.- Exposure to noise / vibration from office / pharmacy equipment.- Exposure to body fluids, chemicals and contact with patients with communicable diseases.- Work environment is fast paced, crowded and may be stressful.IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : A. EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE : - Completion of pharmacy technical program or on-the-job education / pharmacy work experience, preferred.B.
