Job description

Are you looking for an incredible opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing dermatology services company? Epiphany Dermatology, headquartered in Austin, TX, is on a mission to improve access to dermatology services and provide exceptional patient care in underserved markets across the U.S.

We are looking for a service-oriented, motivated individual to join us as a Specialty Medication Coordinator to accomplish this mission. With ambitions to increase our reach over the next four to five years, our quickly expanding company has gone from a single site in 2015 to nearly 100 dermatological clinics nationwide.

Our employees are the key to our success and we're proud to offer eligible employees great benefits (many at no cost!), perks like free skin care, generous time off plans, the opportunity for growth, and the chance to be part of a purpose-driven organization taking patient care to the next level.

We are excited to grow our team with individuals who are as passionate about our patients as we are and invest a lot of time and energy in our employees' development because we believe being a part of the Epiphany team is a career opportunity-not just another job.

If you are interested in joining this mission-driven team, please consider applying today!

What we are looking for :

A Specialty Medication Coordinator (also referred to as Biologics Coordinator) to assist with ensuring our patients have access to the best care possible! While this individual will assist with Medical Assistant duties as needed, their bigger focus will be on navigating the complexities of patient access to prescribed biologics and specialty medications. This may include communicating with insurance providers, completing enrollment forms, reviewing benefit verifications, submitting prior authorizations, writing appeals or letters of medical necessity, and coordinating all efforts of specialty pharmacies and manufacturer HUBs.

The ideal candidate should be totally comfortable juggling multiple priorities and excel at meeting deadlines ... Bonus points if you are a total people person!

What you'll do :

  • Deliver patient care per provider orders, based on practice guidelines and applicable regulations.
  • Ensure that specialty medications are ordered properly and use resources that make sense for the patient's insurance status.
  • Act as a resource for patients, prescribers and clinic staff who have questions about access to specialty medications
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with outside contacts such as patient access representatives, sales representatives, and specialty pharmacies.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with pharmacies and medication representatives to have access to specialty medications and obtain assistance ordering medication as needed.
  • Work with clinic staff and patients to ensure patients are getting scheduled for routine appointments as needed by prescribers.
  • Create appeal letters and manage the appeals process for denials.
  • Ensure requests for prior authorizations are moving forward, getting renewed or being actively appealed.
  • Ensuring all tasks, emails, voicemails / phone calls are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Help keep track of enrollment information such as who is on what specialty medication,
  • Use tools such as covermymeds, secure email platforms, and pharmacy portals as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

If you're a hard worker with excellent customer service skills who understands the importance of doing your best to take care of every patient ... we want to talk to you!

It'll help to have / be :

  • Able to adjust personal availability according to volume changes and activity surges
  • The ability to adhere to a compliance program and HIPAA standards and policies
  • Able to receive and apply constructive input for performance improvement and growth.
  • Experience with EHR systems -not required but highly desired.
  • Qualifications / Experience :

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Successful completion of a state-approved Medical Assistant program. Employer may consider applicants based on extensive experience (unless required by state law).
  • Work Environment and Physical Requirements :

Medical office, procedure / exam room and laboratory environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, biohazards or toxic substances. Daily activities may include standing, walking, sitting, bending and lifting items up to 30 lbs.

    Benefits :

We offer generous benefits including medical, life insurance, short-term disability coverage, mental health services, and more at no cost for eligible employees. In addition, we have great vision, dental, and supplemental insurance options. We also offer 401k with company matching, employee discounts, HSA and FSA / dependent care, tuition assistance, certification reimbursement, and more!
