Job description

Foods you love. Brands you trust. And a career that empowers you to grow.

At Nestle USA, we're all working towards the same goal - to delight and deliver for our consumers. With a rich portfolio of beloved brands, including DiGiorno, Toll House, and Coffee mate, in 97% of U.S. households, we have a unique opportunity - and responsibility - to be there for every moment in our consumers' lives.

Joining Nestle means becoming part of an inclusive workplace that inspires innovation, encourages strategic thinking and creativity, and celebrates your achievements. No matter where you work within the organization, you are empowered to challenge the status quo, embrace risk-taking, and pioneer new ideas. Our supportive and collaborative environment encourages bold ambitions and continuous learning so that everyone can grow and thrive.

This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

What to expect :

At Nestle, we offer a paid, 6-month co-op program in Packaging during a school semester; Fall 2027 (June-Dec). Our Packaging team leads all aspects of the entire development process, from design to manufacturing. Students are given real-life responsibilities through involvement in various activities, initiatives, and the chance to lead their own major projects. The projects will vary in complexity and provide good exposure to a wide range of packaging materials and technologies.

We give students the opportunity to assist in the development and industrialization of new packaging launches, sustainability initiatives, quality improvements, cost optimization, and improved line efficiency efforts. You may also have exposure to different experiences and projects. These may include factory visits, qualifying materials or molds, leading a line trial, performing laboratory testing, developing protocols, creating technical reports and / or attending trade shows. In addition, these individuals will provide technical assistance to various internal departments to support business goals and will interact with Nestle factory staff, internal customers as well as external vendors.

This program is designed to develop future professionals for our Packaging function. We are looking for individuals with the right mix of talent and enthusiasm with shown leadership skills, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work in a team setting.

Key Outputs :

  • Lead sustainability and productivity initiatives to help reduce material usage of existing packaging platforms by identifying, testing, and qualifying alternate materials or processes
  • Develop protocols and conduct extensive testing to evaluate product and package performance in a real-world environment
  • Design a new package format for different channels of trade (e.g., Club stores, Value, Grocery, and E-commerce)
  • Assist in preparation of documentation and specifications for packaging materials
  • Job Assignments will be based in either a corporate site or a manufacturing site for the duration of the co-op

Locations :

  • Fremont, Michigan
  • Seattle, WA
  • Franklin Park, IL (Chicago)
  • Solon, OH (Cleveland)
  • Requirements :

  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program with a focus on Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, or another related field (i.e. Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Science) during the 6-month co-op program
  • Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Knowledge and Skills :

  • Effective communication skills
  • Analytical skills for data tracking and results analysis
  • Strong problem solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Collaborative and able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to deliver results on challenging assignments
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Willing to relocate as necessary for the assignment
  • Willingess to work in a corporate site or manufacturing site during the duration of the co-op
  • Willing to travel to Nestle factories and / or supplier locations throughout the US
  • Additional Perks :

  • Competitive pay rate
  • Relocation package for the duration of the program (for those who qualify)
  • Participation in a Mentorship / Buddy Program designed to help grow your social and professional network
  • Immersion into a dynamic and collaborative work culture with diverse colleagues
  • Volunteer in community service opportunities with a variety of Nestle Creating Share Valued Organizations (e.g., Feeding America, Boys and Girls Club, etc.)
  • Work for the largest food and beverage company in the world with access to a global network of experts in their field
  • The approximate pay range for this position is $30.00 per hour. Please note that the pay rate provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.

It is our business imperative to remain a very inclusive workplace.

To our veterans and separated service members, you're at the forefront of our minds as we recruit top talent to join Nestle. The skills you've gained while serving our country, such as flexibility, agility, and leadership, are much like the skills that will make you successful in this role. In addition, with our commitment to an inclusive work environment, we recognize the exceptional engagement and innovation displayed by individuals with disabilities.
