The Medical Assistant- Bilingual position will include the following : rooming patients, vital signs, point of care testing, collecting and packaging lab specimens, phlebotomy, vaccine administration, documenting and ordering labs in EMR, drug assistance applications, prior authorization applications and supporting provider with procedures.

About the Division :

At Lane County Health & Human Services, we believe healthy people are the foundation of healthy communities. The Community Health Centers of Lane County provide affordable primary care for the whole family - infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors - as well as integrated behavioral health, alternative services such as acupuncture, and preventative dental services. At Community Health Centers, we focus on integrated care that values the whole person. Our services encompass not only treatment and prevention of illness, but also health education and behavioral health services.

At Lane County Community Health Centers we have adopted a model of primary care called Patient Centered Medical Home. Our services are organized around care teams who work collaboratively to support our patients. Our integrated care teams include primary care providers, nurses, medical assistants, patient care coordinators and behavioral health specialists. This model of primary care prioritizes the patient, who has increased access to other services beyond general medical care at our clinics. Our care teams also help patients reach their optimal health status by addressing social determinants of health barriers to care such as transportation, food insecurity, or housing.

About the Location

The South Lane Clinic will offer medical, dental, and behavioral health care to the vibrant community of Cottage Grove, Oregon and surrounding areas. In partnership with Lane Community College, the clinic will provide training for local students interested in healthcare careers providing a collaborative approach to grow the healthcare workforce. The South Lane Clinic is established as a Rural Health Clinic (RHC).

  • While this position is posted for a primary location it requires the flexibility to float to other clinics as needed for coverage, training, and support.
  • Please note - travel between clinic locations is required during training

    Medical Assistant 1 Training & Experience :

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent; and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification able to be obtained within sixty (60) days of hire.
  • No Medical Assistant experience is necessary.
  • Medical Assistant 2 Training & Experience :

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent; and Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent job experience.
  • Certification is required at the time of hire.
  • One year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Or any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

    DEFINITION :

    To assist in providing bilingual communication with Limited English Proficient (LEP) persons. Individuals in these classifications do more than self-identify; they have successfully passed a test demonstrating proficiency in both English and the other language administered by the County. The need for the use of the second language in the performance of job duties in this classification has been identified.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :

    In addition to the regular knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the employee's main classification, the bilingual duties of this adjunct classification may include, but are not limited to the following :

  • Interpreting between English speakers and LEP persons.
  • Orally translating documents

    Medical / Rx / Vision - Lane County offers medical, prescription and vision exam coverage for you and your eligible dependents. The plan options and costs per month for 2018 are outlined below :

    If you enroll in the HDHP the County will contribute to your HSA : $1,500 (individual) or $3,000 (family) annually. This amount is prorated based on date of hire.
