Radiologists are specialized Physicians who diagnose and treat patients via medical imaging equipment, including x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs), computer tomography (CTs), ultrasounds, and more. They have a critical role in the healthcare system as they are often the professionals responsible for determining the status of a patient's wellbeing. Radiologists work directly with many different Physicians, as they act as expert consultants for the patient's diagnoses.  
  
Aside from being a specialist in interpreting radiology results, Radiologists can also treat diseases with radiation. It is a common practice for oncologists to treat cancer patients using this treatment method. As radiation can be very harmful, Radiologists need to be highly trained in its use to keep their patients and themselves safe from unnecessary exposure.   
  
The roles and responsibilities that Radiologists have are situational and depend on the circumstances of each patient. Still, they can hone their specialties further into fields such as oncology, diagnostic radiology, and interventional radiology.

• Working with other Physicians to complete medical imaging methods to have a more in-depth look at a patient’s diagnosis  
• Performing medical imaging with specialized tools depending on the scenario, such as MRI scans, X-rays, PET scans, ultrasounds, and more  
• Analyzing and deciphering diagnostic imaging tests from patients to determine where their issues may be coming from  
• Diagnosing patients based on radiology results  
• Treating patients based on radiation methods  
• Working directly with other physicians to help determine the best options for patients  
• Providing recommendations for patients based on their radiology results  
• Monitoring patients’ current treatments to see what is working or what is not  
• Adjusting radiation methods based on how patients’ treatments are performing  
• Staying updated with recent technology and advancements involved with radiology  
• Having a strong understanding of the body as Radiologists can work with all different kinds of diagnoses
