A Warehouse Worker is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including receiving and processing incoming shipments, picking and packing orders, and loading and shipping outbound freight. In large warehouses, workers may be specialized in one particular task or area.

Common duties include checking lists of incoming items, receiving incoming cargo and comparing the shipment to the lists, inspecting the condition of the cargo, storing it according to labeling and sorting procedures, and updating the inventory of stored items. They may also be responsible for retrieving items according to clients' requests and charging clients for storing services based on company policies.

Working conditions vary depending on the size and type of warehouse, but most workers spend their shifts on their feet, often lifting heavy objects. The work can be physically demanding, and the hours can be long and irregular, including nights and weekends. Some warehouses are open 24 hours a day.

Warehouse Workers typically earn an hourly wage and may be eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a week. Some warehouses offer benefits such as health insurance and 401(k) plans.
