Dermatologists are specialized doctors that primarily focus on the skin, hair, and nails. All Dermatologists have completed an accredited dermatology residency program after medical school and require years of extensive studying and training. Some dermatology issues will affect other parts of the body, meaning that Dermatologists need to be certified Physicians. Additionally, Dermatologists need to complete a certain number of patient care hours to become certified, depending on where they practice.

Dermatology is a specialization with many different procedures that include, but are not limited to, treating acne, skin lesions, dermatitis and eczema, fungal infections, skin cancer, warts, and more. They are known to identify more than 3,000 different conditions. In addition to taking care of medical procedures, Dermatologists can be responsible for cosmetic procedures, such as chemical peels, injections, and laser surgery.

Dermatologists work with patients of all ages, and the work they do is entirely dependent on each case. For example, a Dermatologist could operate on a newborn with an unusual birthmark or treat an older person's eczema.

 Personality of a Dermatologist
  • They are meticulous
Not unlike Physicians, a Dermatologist needs to be extremely detail-oriented. A Dermatologist's work will substantially impact the client's well-being, so everything must be done meticulously and with care. In dermatology, the smallest details can have a significant impact.

  • They are strong communicators
Dermatologists work directly with their patients and help talk them through procedures and options related to their skin, hair, and nails. They need to be active listeners and educators that patients can talk to about their symptoms.

  • They are caring
As a Dermatologist, it is in your best interest to look out for and provide the best care possible for your clients. Dermatologists need to achieve a positive reputation and keep their clients informed and comfortable during all procedures. Having a caring personality will make a positive impact on all parties involved.
