A Judge is a professional who holds the court to the law's highest standards based on their judgment. Judges are present in all courtrooms, and based on the evidence presented and how a hearing or trial progresses, they will be able to determine their verdict for all parties involved.  
  
The primary duty of any Judge is to uphold the law and ensure justice is maintained in all proceedings. Judges analyze and interpret all evidence and witness testimonies to dictate a fair verdict and a sentence when necessary, sometimes with a jury present. They act as impartial mediators in courts of law, taking part in hearings, civil litigation cases, among others.  
  
Something very peculiar about Judges is that they are elected, not hired. When a Lawyer applies for a judgeship, they submit their cases to a court where they face an evaluation regarding their work, moral values, and integrity. There can only be so many Judges at a time in a single district, so applicants may have to wait for an older Judge to retire for a vacancy to open up.

A vital characteristic of a Judge is their impartiality. They are required to analyze situations and cases from all perspectives to make unbiased decisions. They must base their decisions entirely on the law, and they are not allowed to apply their personal feelings or morality when resolving a court case.

Judges must hold all court cases to the highest degree of the law, meaning that they need to be very knowledgeable about the local and national laws in which they work. Judges will encounter many Lawyers who are highly educated and trained to fight for their cases, and Judges must have a strong understanding of the law to come to their conclusion.   
  

• Ethical  

Due to the power that a Judge yields, it is crucial that they are ethical with their decisions and hold themselves to a high standard of ethics. Judges will often have to abide by a code of ethics that will highlight what is meant by “ethical,” however, going into this career means that the Judge has already demonstrated this set of crucial characteristics throughout their previous years of legal experience.
