A Pharmacist is a trained healthcare professional that specializes in pharmacy and medication. They play an integral role in providing patients with their medication, along with accompanying information needed. Pharmacists are responsible for the packaging and distribution of medicine to individuals who submit their prescriptions while also addressing their questions and concerns. Pharmacists are experts in pharmaceuticals, and they work directly with their colleagues and patients who require medication.  
   
Pharmacists are highly educated individuals who must learn the history and functionality of different medications, including dosage, performance, side effects, and risks. Practicing Pharmacists must be certified, with defined steps to becoming a professional in this field according to the regions where they practice. All Pharmacists are trained professionals who have completed many years of education to earn their title.  Pharmacists are not Physicians, but they do hold a doctoral degree.  
   
Pharmacists must be accurate and detail-oriented professionals who often work directly with their clients. They are front-line educators who must be knowledgeable, empathetic, and patient.   
 
What can  a Pharmacist do?

• Pharmacists can legally distribute prescription drugs to individuals who have pre-approved permission from another source, such as physicians or nurse practitioners.  
• Pharmacists can give patients seasonal flu shots and other vaccines  
• Pharmacists can advise patients about lifestyle choices such as diet, exercise, smoking, and more  
• Pharmacists can be involved with the research of new drugs and testing their effects.  
• Pharmacists have the authority to write certain prescriptions, but the range is limited 

What can’t a Pharmacist do?

• Pharmacists cannot diagnose patients. Only a Physician has the authority to do this 
• Pharmacists cannot influence the decision of a health insurance company. For example, if there is a different drug available, they are not able to advise an alternative to their patient  
• Pharmacists cannot skip over details when informing their patients about their medication. They are also obliged to answer all questions to the best of their knowledge
