A Urologist is a specialized doctor with a focus on the urinary system. This system includes the kidneys, bladder, and urethra. Urologists focus on treating and diagnosing diseases in the urinary tract system and the reproductive tract in males. Urologists work with men, women, and children of all ages.  
   
Urologist's work involves many different procedures that can include treating kidney diseases and stones, cancers in the bladder, infertility in men, urinary tract infections (UTIs), interstitial cystitis, prostate gland XXXXX, and more. Urologists can further specialize in the fields of urologic oncology or female urology. To specialize, a Urologist must finish a fellowship after completing their residency in Urology. Urologists can complete multiple fellowships if they decide to, and these qualifications will help them diversify and advance their careers.  
   
A patient may address a general practitioner about a specific issue relating to their urinary system or health. In that case, they may be referred to a Urologist who will have more knowledge and experience.
