About the Role :

Planet's Electrical Engineering team is looking for a SeniorHarness Engineer to own the end-to-end design and delivery of our satellite's critical wire harnesses. You will drive the entire process, from creating 3D routing models and 2D fabrication drawings to selecting every component to meet strict performance and environmental requirements for the vacuum and vibration of space. This is a hands-on, collaborative role where you will work with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure your designs are successfully built, integrated, and ready for launch

This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco office 3 days per week.

Impact You'll Own :

• Design and deliver robust wire harness solutions from concept to production, creating 3D routing models and 2D fabrication drawings.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to develop system integration plans, ensure electrical integrity, and streamline the transition from design to manufacturing.
• Own the component selection process for connectors, terminals, wire, and protection (sleeving, conduit) to meet all system performance, environmental, and cost requirements.
• Create and maintain all critical design documentation, including electrical schematics, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and engineering change orders (ECOs) to ensure product accuracy.
• Support manufacturing and integration teams by troubleshooting build challenges, resolving design issues, and ensuring all assemblies meet quality and compliance standards.

Compensation :

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

San Francisco Salary Range

$162,600 — $203,200 USD
