An IBM MQ administrator should be proficient in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting IBM MQ across multiple environments, including high-availability (HA) and clustering.
Responsibilities
- Managing distributed queue managers, advanced channel configurations, and multi-instance queue managers.
- Setting up and managing HA environments, queue manager clusters, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
- Implementing SSL / TLS encryption, OAM security policies, and integrating LDAP for authentication.
- Optimizing queue manager and channel configurations for high throughput and low latency.
- Developing scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automated monitoring and maintenance.
- Diagnosing complex messaging failures, dead-letter queues, and performance bottlenecks using tools like dmpmqmsg, strmqtrc, dspmqtrc.
- Understanding how applications interact with IBM MQ, including JMS and REST API.
- Using IBM MQ monitoring tools (IBM MQ Explorer, Prometheus, Splunk, or Nagios) to track queue performance and generate alerts.
