JOB DESCRIPTION

Role : Azure Cloud Architect

Location : Remote

Duration : 4 Weeks (with potential for extension based on performance)

Project Overview :

You'll lead a cloud assessment of an Azure-based life sciences platform - reviewing its architecture, security, scalability, and compliance posture.

The goal is to identify gaps and provide recommendations to make the system more robust, secure, and compliant with healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct detailed Azure cloud assessments across 4 5 existing applications (no migration work).
  • Evaluate architecture design for scalability, fault tolerance, performance, and multi-region support.
  • Review Infrastructure as Code (IaC) built using Terraform, AzAPI, and Azure DevOps pipelines for modularity, automation, and compliance.
  • Assess containerized and microservices environments - AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), Azure App Services, Service Bus, and API Management.
  • Verify security and compliance practices including Azure Policy, RBAC, encryption, and Key Vault usage (FDA / HIPAA / ISO 27001).
  • Analyze AI / ML data flows and integration with Microsoft Fabric / Data Lake analytics.
  • Review monitoring, logging, backup / HA / DR, and cost optimization practices using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
  • Deliver a comprehensive report including gap analysis, risk register, architecture diagrams, and prioritized recommendations.

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications :

  • 15+ years total IT experience, with 8+ years in Azure Cloud Architecture.
  • Hands-on experience performing cloud assessments (not just migrations).
  • Strong knowledge of Terraform, Azure DevOps, AKS, Azure App Services, Service Bus, API Management.
  • Experience implementing or auditing Azure Security Controls and compliance standards (HIPAA, FDA, ISO 27001).
  • At least 1 project in the Life Sciences or Healthcare domain.
  • Microsoft Certification Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) is mandatory.

    • Preferred :

  • AZ-500 (Azure Security Engineer Associate) or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor / HITRUST.

  • The number of Azure assessment or audit projects you've handled (4 5 minimum preferred).
  • Specific Azure services you've worked with (AKS, Terraform, Azure DevOps, API Management, etc.).Life sciences / healthcare project experience.
  • Your Microsoft Azure certifications with certification IDs if possible.
  • Any security / compliance frameworks you've worked with (HIPAA, FDA, ISO 27001).
