Job description

The Medical Biller is responsible for the accurate and timely submission of claims for infusion therapy services, working closely with clinical staff, payers, and patients to ensure optimal reimbursement. This role involves charge entry, claims processing, payment posting, denial management, and follow-up for infusion-related services provided at the center. This position is a safety sensitive position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant certification (e.g., Certified Professional Biller) preferred.
  • 2+ years of medical billing experience, preferably in an infusion, specialty pharmacy, or oncology setting.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT / HCPCS codes, infusion billing practices, and insurance claims processing.
  • Experience with EHR systems (Caretend).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Submit timely and accurate insurance claims for infusion services to commercial, government, and third-party payers.
  • Review infusion treatment notes and documentation to ensure appropriate billing codes and compliance with payer guidelines.
  • Verify insurance benefits and pre-authorizations for infusion patients as needed.
  • Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims, rejections, and denials; take necessary steps to appeal or correct claims.
  • Post insurance and patient payments accurately, including adjustments and write-offs.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, pharmacy, and administrative teams to resolve billing discrepancies and documentation gaps.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all billing regulations for specialty and infusion care.
  • Respond to billing-related inquiries from patients and assist in resolving issues or concerns.
  • Generate and review aging reports to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
  • Stay current with payer policies and infusion coding / billing guidelines (e.g., HCPCS, CPT, NDC codes).
  • Pharmacy and Infusion Medical billing claims.
