Senior Manager Of Operational Readiness

Reporting to the Director of Process Excellence, the Senior Manager of Operational Readiness will play a key role in supporting and enabling project teams to deliver projects "the Suffolk Way." This role is about empowering teams to succeed by providing operational coaching and guidance on Suffolk's operations playbook, processes, and procedures.

This individual will develop and deliver coaching that helps teams understand and apply best practices across the project lifecycle. A critical aspect of this role involves visiting projects at key milestonessuch as project startup, project closeout, and other pivotal momentsto provide hands-on coaching and support.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to deliver content in a succinct, supportive, and relatable way, fostering trust and confidence with field teams and operational leaders.

In addition to coaching on Suffolk's operations playbook, this leader will be a Procore process expert, deeply understanding the nuances, workflows, and keystrokes of Procore. They will be expected to stay continuously informed of new features, tips, and best practices, ensuring they can advise and enable teams to leverage the system effectively and in alignment with Suffolk's operational playbook.

This role will also focus on upholding Suffolk's processes and standards, promoting a culture of excellence through consistency, lessons learned, and knowledge sharing. By creating an environment where best practices are continuously refined and shared, this leader will help Suffolk drive consistency across teams and regions while encouraging continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on, role-specific coaching and guidance (often in person) to help teams effectively deliver the Suffolk Way.
  • Develop and deliver process-focused trainings that bring Suffolk's Operations Playbook to life, translating best practices into practical, actionable steps for project teams.
  • Design, deliver, and continuously improve operational trainings to support emerging markets and sectors, ensuring teams are equipped for success.
  • Support projects at critical milestones, such as startup and closeout, by partnering with Ops Ex and regional leaders to ensure alignment with process requirements and company standards.
  • Act as Suffolk's Procore process expert, with a deep understanding of the nuances, workflows and keystrokes of the system :
  • Stay current on new features, tips, and best practices, proactively sharing updates with teams.
  • Provide coaching on how to maximize Procore's capabilities in alignment with Suffolk's operational playbook.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of coaching efforts, refining delivery methods based on feedback.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and SME for the creation of all operational training content. Conceptualize, develop, and deliver on key operational training materials.
  • Drive process adherence across all Operations Excellence processes through the consistent reinforcement of SOPs through coaching.
  • As needed, provide technical support and training on core systems (Procore, Autodesk, etc.) with regards to operational processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement by gathering feedback, best practices, templates, and tools from project teams, and collaborate with the Process Excellence team to design, implement, and share enhanced processes with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support ongoing Ops Ex initiatives as required.

Qualifications

  • 810 years of progressive experience in construction management, overseeing projects from planning through completion.
  • Proven experience leading teams in a construction management setting.
  • Strong understanding of Suffolk project management processes and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to self-reflect and learn new skills related to coaching and facilitating teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently to project sites.
  • Bachelor's degree (or commensurate experience) in construction management or related field.
  • The Senior Manager should be a self-starter who is ready to roll up their sleeves and make an impact, able to take a step back and think through the big picture to choose the best solution, highly collaborative, detail-oriented, organized, and able to achieve outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working Conditions

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and / or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
