Job Description : Overview

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, hands-on care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and behavioral health needs in residential and community settings. DSPs play a vital role in helping individuals achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life by supporting daily living activities, personal growth, and community inclusion.

No experience? No problem, on-the-job training is provided to help you succeed and feel confident in your role. If you have a caring heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference, we’ll teach you the rest!

Positions are available in the Butler, PA area.

We’re seeking compassionate and dependable individuals who :

  • Have a genuine desire to support people with disabilities and behavioral health needs.
  • Are patient, reliable, and willing to learn new skills.
  • Communicate effectively and treat others with dignity and respect.
  • A high school diploma or GED .
  • A valid driver’s license , reliable transportation, and a safe driving record.
  • Ability to complete required clearances and trainings, including : Act 33 / 34, FBI Clearances, CPR / First Aid Certification, and DPW Medication Administration Course.

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and assistance to individuals with IDD and / or behavioral health needs in a respectful and person-centered manner.
  • Implement and monitor Individual Support Plans (ISPs) to help clients reach personal goals and develop life skills.
  • Support daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household maintenance .
  • Administer prescribed medications safely in accordance with training and physician instructions.
  • Foster community integration through participation in recreational and social activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and medication logs.
  • Ensure a safe living environment by performing safety checks, reporting repairs, and supporting emergency procedures.
  • Provide emotional support using effective communication, problem-solving, and crisis management skills.
  • Attend all required trainings and maintain compliance with agency and state standards.

    • To qualify, you must have :

  • No prior experience required — we’ll train you!
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform tasks such as walking, bending, and climbing stairs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30 minutes to work locations.
  • Must pass a background check, drug screen, and TB test .

    • Available Shifts :

  • Monday - Friday , second and third shift.
  • Commitment : Some weekends and holidays are preferred for availability.

    • Please note : Pay is dependent on shift and flexibility. Travel up to 30 minutes may be required.
