Responsibilities
- Prioritize, plan and prepare work. Analyze tasks and establish an appropriate sequence of operations
- Read blueprints and job orders for product specifications, number of parts to be machined, material specifications, machining stock, and due dates
- Set up and operate various CNC lathes
- Select correct tooling, speeds and feed rates for each operation according to requirements and knowledge of material properties
- Verify dimensions of work piece for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, comparators, calipers, dial indicators, and gauge blocks
- Check machines for proper maintenance and preparation before starting each job
- Machine components to blueprint specifications and stock allowances
- Operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment
- Must meet speed expectations to ensure productivity
