Position Summary

Perform as a skilled electrician in all phases of utility equipment electrical maintenance, construction, repair, and other activities related to the trade.

Position is responsible for utility electrical system compliance and electrical distribution operation for the Utility Plant that serves the UNMC / NE Med Campus

Electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation will be on pumps and motors of all sizes and horsepower, boiler equipment, chillers, support equipment, variable frequency drives, motor control centers, large motor maintenance, and 5KV emergency diesel generators.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required Education :

Relevant coursework / specialized training or equivalent

Completion of an apprentice program or a vocational technical program in electronics. or electrical maintenance.

Will consider four years related post high school education / experience)

Responsible experience as an electrician, in a commercial and / or industrial environment.

Required License

1. Valid City of Omaha or State of Nebraska Journeyman's or Electrical Contractor License.

2. Valid driver's license.

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

1. Knowledge of Motor Control Centers and Variable Speed Drives and ability to troubleshoot.

2. Knowledge of Automatic Transfer Switches and ability to troubleshoot.

3. Knowledge of High Voltage Distribution (15 kv and 5 kv ) controls and ability to troubleshoot.

4. Knowledge of applications and installation of electrical metering devices.

5. Ability to demonstrate analytical skills and use of electronic test equipment.

Preferred Education :

Relevant coursework / specialized training

Related education in industrial electric maintenance, motor maintenance, balancing, alignment, and / or vibration analysis.

Utility or Industrial plant experience

VFD factory authorized start-up technician within 6 months of hire.
