Responsibilities Work in a large hospital setting with multiple Med / Surg units, including trauma surgical, neuroscience, oncology, ortho, urology, and clinical decision units Patient populations include general surgery, vascular, neurology, ortho, oncology, and general Med / Surg cases Patient ratios range from 1 : 5-6 depending on the unit Assignments may include care for trauma, neurosurgical, orthopedic, oncology, and urology patients Uses Cerner EMR (preferred); also utilizes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell, and Spacelabs monitors Telemetry monitoring is present, with RNs required to interpret and confirm Q4 hour strip readings Floating required to similar units and patient care areas within the hospital Shifts available are 7a-7p or 7p-7a following a 4 week scheduling cycle Weekend rotation required, with shifts every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month No on-call responsibilities Responsibilities include wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration, and escalation of care as needed Other duties may involve trach care, blood draws from central lines, foley, PEG, colostomy / ostomy care, drains, restraint management, and chemotherapy administration if certified RNs are supported by CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV / VAT team, hospitalists, and telemetry techs Travelers receive 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours unit orientation if new to facility or after 1 year gap Holiday coverage requires one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy No self-scheduling; scheduling is managed via Smart Square Scrub color is flexible; any color is permitted Parking provided in a deck, limited to 2nd through 4th levels RTO requests are approved up to 7 days, excluding specific blackout dates Requirements Active AL or compact RN license Minimum 18 months of recent Med / Surg or ICU experience required Cerner EMR experience required if ICU is primary background; Cerner or Epic EMR experience accepted for Med / Surg backgrounds BLS and NIHSS certifications required At least 1 year of trauma or surgical experience required for corresponding units Telemetry interpretation skills required; RNs must interpret and document telemetry strip readings every 4 hours First-time travelers accepted Perm staff must be gone at least 6 months before returning as a traveler 60-mile radius rule applies; locals are not eligible Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-620250.
