Description

The Software Engineer V serves as a senior technical leader across advanced software development initiatives, with a focus on real-time autonomous systems, computer vision, machine learning, sensor fusion, and EO / IR imagery analysis. This role emphasizes the development and deployment of high-performance, GUI-driven applicationsespecially those integrated with the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK)for defense, intelligence, and commercial use cases.

Description

The Software Engineer V serves as a senior technical leader across advanced software development initiatives, with a focus on real-time autonomous systems, computer vision, machine learning, sensor fusion, and EO / IR imagery analysis. This role emphasizes the development and deployment of high-performance, GUI-driven applicationsespecially those integrated with the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK)for defense, intelligence, and commercial use cases.

Job Duties

  • Software Architecture & Development : Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable software systems, including GUI and user-facing interfaces for autonomous and sensing platforms. Build both prototype and production-level software solutions for real-time applications.
  • Advanced Algorithm Integration : Research, develop, and implement state-of-the-art vision-based sensing algorithms and machine learning models. Support deployment of these capabilities to government and commercial customers.
  • System Design & Optimization : Drive architectural decisions to ensure performance, scalability, and security. Identify performance bottlenecks and lead optimization efforts to reduce technical debt.
  • Testing, Validation & Debugging : Oversee unit, integration, and system-level testing. Lead verification and validation of autonomous software and imaging systems to ensure functional and performance requirements are met.
  • Code Quality & Best Practices : Conduct detailed code reviews to maintain quality, performance, and compliance with secure coding standards. Collaborate with other developers to improve reliability and maintainability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with program managers, designers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to define technical requirements, align with program goals, and deliver mission-critical solutions.
  • Documentation & Communication : Produce and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, flowcharts, programming procedures, and user guides to support team knowledge sharing and sustainment.
  • Mentorship & Leadership : Mentor junior engineers and lead by example in engineering excellence, agile practices, and timely project execution.
  • Security & Compliance : Ensure all software complies with relevant cybersecurity and regulatory standards, including ITAR and other government requirements.
  • Continuous Innovation : Stay current with emerging technologies and frameworks; identify opportunities to incorporate them into future development efforts.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications :

  • Successful background screening
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading the development of state-of-the-art vision-based sensing algorithms and software solutions, particularly those compatible with ATAK, and experience deploying them for government agencies and commercial clients.
  • Proven track record in researching and implementing advanced computer vision and machine learning models, with a focus on GUI-centric applications.
  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and implementing applications for autonomous systems, encompassing both prototype proof-of-concept and production-level software, with a strong emphasis on seamless ATAK integration.
  • Adept at analyzing user needs and delivering tailored ATAK-centric solutions.
  • Proficiency in collaboration with program managers to align with specification needs, with a specific focus on integrating ATAK capabilities.
  • Skilled in collaborating effectively with fellow developers to design, optimize, and enhance ATAK-related code.
  • Proficient in producing clear and informative flowcharts, diagrams, and user guides specific to ATAK-centric programs.
  • Diligent in documenting programming tasks and procedures, with an emphasis on ATAK integration.
  • Experience in verification and validation for systems and capabilities developed, particularly in the context of ATAK-centric solutions
  • Ability to effectively handle stress and pressure consistent with the job duties and industry
  • Ability to analyze user needs and develop solutions
  • Proficient programming in at least one programming language (e.g., C, C++, Matlab, or Python), though proficiency in multiple languages is preferred

    • Additional Requirement

    You must have, or be eligible to obtain, a Department of Defense Secret clearance. You will be subject to government security investigations and must be able to access classified information. The inability to obtain a security clearance will result in you being ineligible for the position.
