Executive Director
All In has an immediate opening for an Executive Director to lead the coalition and drive a forward-looking strategy. Partnering with All In's leadership and partners, the Executive Director will chart the next course, assemble a powerhouse team, and galvanize action to achieve transformative results.
All In will operate as a campaign-style initiative built to empower and deliver for mayors, governors, and other local leaders driving America's climate ambition. Grounded in collaboration and focused on results, All In will unite stakeholders around shared priorities that advance bold, cross-sector climate action and elevate U.S. subnational leadership on the world stage.
The Executive Director will have a pulse on the landscape of activity, a keen ability to make sense of what's going on, and be able to identify opportunities where All In can uniquely add value. The ideal candidate will have the ability to process and communicate complex issues to stakeholders within and beyond the coalition, as well as the ability to bring diverse perspectives together to mobilize around a unified vision for sustained, durable climate action. They will work with a skilled communications team to develop the All In voice, messaging, and position to effectively lift up the stories and solutions of subnational climate action.
The Executive Director will represent the type of nimble and versatile leadership that is required to continue to make progress on climate in this dynamic environment.
Role & Responsibilities
Strategic Direction and Planning
- Develop the strategic direction into a strategic plan with two-year implementation strategies in coordination with coalition co-chairs and leadership. The ED will be responsible for establishing and delivering on clear goals, objectives and tactics as established in the strategic plan, and delivering on high-impact campaigns.
- Design and oversee a measurement and evaluation effort to ensure impact, effectiveness, and alignment with strategic goals.
- Adapt to emerging political, cultural, and economic dynamics, ensuring that All In stays relevant, nimble, and responsive.
- Identify gaps and opportunities to add capacity to the field.
Organizational Leadership & Oversight
Hire and manage a team of approximately 10 staff with expertise spanning coalition building, international climate diplomacy, communications, campaign management, research, private-public partnerships, and events.Oversee all aspects of All In's internal management and programs, which include both domestic and international workstreams.Ensure alignment between All In's governance and execution.Work with assigned staff at All In's administrative project home to oversee all aspects of organizational operations, including budgeting, fundraising, HR, and legal.Manage organizational relationships with consultants, contractors, and technical assistance providers.Organizational Culture

Cultivate and steward relationships with key external partnersincluding co-chairs, city and state networks, international actors, business alliances, academic institutions, and climate organizationsto strengthen coordination and amplify collective impact.Engage regularly with senior representatives of member organizations to ensure alignment, partnership health, and shared ownership of the coalition's strategy and outcomes.Strategic Communications
Lead the development of an external engagement strategy that positions All In as the authoritative voice of U.S. subnational climate leadership.Ensure that coalition outputsreports, events, campaigns, and announcementsreinforce the visibility and credibility of mayors and governors as central drivers of America's climate leadership.Represent All In in dialogues with international partners and networks to showcase the U.S. model of whole-of-society climate action.Qualifications
At least 12 years of relevant experience is required, including significant experience working directly with mayors, governors, or other elected leaders to advance shared priorities and navigate complex political and policy environments.A passion for advancing climate solutions.Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.Experience building, leading, and working within coalitions. You are someone who has a low ego and thrives in a collective action environment.An alignment builder with a demonstrated capacity for finding consensus across disparate perspectives and arriving at common ground.Experience working in state and / or local government is strongly preferred.Experience in stakeholder and partner outreach and engagement, with a track record of cultivating strong relationships with advocacy, policy, private sector, and grassroots leaders.Exceptional ability to analyze information, formulate plans, and adapt plans and tactics as conditions change.Public speaking and on-the-record experience.Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse internal and external stakeholders.Strong financial and operational acumen, including budget oversight, 501c3 compliance, grantmaking, and cross-functional management.Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.Experience working internationally is preferred, not required.Experience working on climate change related issues and / or policy, with an established professional network and reputation in the field.About You

The America Is All In team will be remote, based in the United States. This position can be located anywhere in the United States, but must be able to work Monday - Friday, 9 am - 6 pm EST, plus weekends and evenings as the work dictates. This role will include domestic and international travel, expected on a monthly basis, with periods of more frequent travel. The Executive Director will have oversight over their own and the team's travel scheduling and balancing.
