Position Overview The
Medical Technologist (Allied) is responsible for performing
high-complexity laboratory testing in a hospital environment, with a primary focus on
Blood Bank operations. This role supports patient care by ensuring
accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory results while adhering to all regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
Facility will ONLY consider Medical Technologists or Medical Laboratory Scientists.
Medical Laboratory Technicians will NOT be considered.Key Responsibilities - Perform clinical laboratory testing in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Execute Blood Bank testing accurately, including compatibility testing and transfusion support
- Review, analyze, and validate test results to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
- Follow CLIA, CAP, and hospital regulatory requirements
- Document results and maintain accurate laboratory records
- Adhere to all safety, quality control, and infection prevention protocols
- Collaborate with laboratory staff, physicians, and clinical teams to support patient care
Required Qualifications - Minimum 2 years of recent experience within specialty
- Recent Blood Bank experience REQUIRED
- Certifications Required (one or more):
Required Skills - Strong knowledge of Blood Bank procedures and testing
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and quality standards
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently during evening shift hours
Work Environment - Hospital laboratory setting
- Exposure to biological specimens and laboratory chemicals
- Use of PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols
- Evening shift with variable scheduling based on department needs
