About the Role
We are seeking a Dedicated and Collaborative Obesity Medicine Physician to join our multidisciplinary weight management team. This role is designed for an ABOM-certified physician with a strong interest in teaching and mentoring Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The physician will provide direct clinical services and structured supervision for up to three APPs to enhance consistency, safety, and effectiveness of patient care across the team.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care focused on evidence-based obesity treatment and chronic weight management, collaborating with APP colleagues on a shared panel (not maintaining a separate primary patient panel).
- Review charts and conduct return visits for APP patients every third visit to ensure quality and continuity of care.
- Provide treatment planning and medical management support for complex cases or escalated concerns.
- Prescribe non-controlled obesity medications for patients under direct care and in coordination with APPs.
- Attend weekly 30-minute collaborative meetings and 30 minutes of asynchronous communication time with each assigned APP to review cases and provide mentorship.
- Ensure clinical documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways are followed consistently within the team.
- Support the professional development of APPs by fostering clinical growth, providing feedback, and supporting continuing education.
- Participate in team-based care initiatives and contribute to a culture of collaboration and high-quality care.
- Attend relevant departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement efforts within the obesity medicine program.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree, board certified and diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).Minimum of 5 years as an attending physician in primary specialty.Licensed to practice and prescribe in the State of Arizona; strong preference for multiple state licenses.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated mentoring and teaching interest; experience working with APPs, residents, or trainees.Commitment to evidence-based obesity treatments, behavioral interventions, nutrition, and pharmacotherapy with patient-centered, culturally competent care.Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with dietitians, behavioral health providers, and nursing staff.Benefits and Environment
