Job description

Urologist Opportunity – Allentown, PA VAMC – Up to 55

Days off Annually Serve Those Who’ve Served Caring for our nation’s

The Allentown, PA VA Medical Center is currently seeking a

full-time board certified / board eligible Urologist to join the VA

team. Your duties will include : Urology consultation for inpatients

and outpatients. Evaluate and treat Urology emergencies in the

Emergency Department, Outpatient clinic, Inpatient ward, ICU, and

the Operating Room. Provide professional services requiring full

range of inpatient and outpatient Urology procedures. Facilitate

patient access to medical care by recommending appropriate

referrals to other health care providers in accordance with

applicable policies and regulations. Responsible for being able to

admit, work-up, and treat either surgical or medical patients

presenting with illness or injuries of the genitourinary systems.

Evaluate the patient to assess any changes in the physical status,

lab values and vital signs of the patient prior to surgery.

Appropriate notes are written in the patient's medical records,

times, dates, and signed. Ability to perform minor and major

surgical procedures. Responsible for providing the patient with

risks, benefits and alternative treatments and securing the

informed consent of the patient / family needed before conducting

invasive procedures. Responsible for regular postoperative

follow-up, patient teaching and wound care upon discharge orders in

the chart in a timely manner. Perform emergency surgical procedures

as needed. Complete all electronic, clinical, daily charting and

documentation required by the Medical Center in a timely manner.

Participate in all surgical quality / performance improvement

initiatives. Key Requirements : U.S. Citizenship ( Non-citizens J-1

and H-1B may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit

qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. ) Full

unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required in

ANY U.S. State. Board Certified or Board Eligible Office Hours :

8 : 00am to 4 : 30pm Monday - Friday. On-Call as needed VA physicians
