The Training And Development Manager supports the design, development, and delivery of readySC training initiatives and other workforce development projects within the Division of Economic Development at the SC Technical College System. This position may work independently or partner with a readySC Area Director to manage and coordinate workforce training efforts, utilizing organizational methodologies tailored to each project's complexity and the unique needs of client companies. The role includes creating comprehensive training strategies and schedules for multiple projects, ranging from small to large in scale, to ensure all deliverables are completed on time and within budget. The manager develops and implements effective communication plans for each project, working either alone or alongside an Area Director or another Training and Development Manager, to foster strong client relationships and oversee the resources necessary to support the project's training objectives. Responsibilities include managing or participating in the recruitment, selection, and training of project personnel, such as Project Coordinators, Instructors, and Administrative Support staff. The manager also guides on-the-job training, mentoring, performance evaluation, and professional growth of both new and existing readySC Instructors. The Training And Development Manager maintains effective working relationships with economic and workforce development partners statewide, ensuring efficient collaboration and prompt action to advance project goals. Assignments may take place locally, regionally, or across the state, based on the Division's operational needs and workloads. Additionally, the Training And Development Manager may be asked to serve as, or assist, the Technical Training Manager by acting as a technical subject matter expert for readySC in dealings with potential or existing vendors.

A bachelor's degree and relevant project management experience. Ability to collaborate with companies, colleges, or internal SMEs in the design and development of training. Proven presentation and facilitation skills.

Experience providing technical training for an organization in start-up mode. Working knowledge of technical training evaluation methods, especially level-2 and hands-on. Working knowledge of technical job aids, Standard Operating Procedures, and / or work instructions. Experience working in a regulated manufacturing industry preferably as a trainer, lead, or supervisor (e.g. Automotive, Aeronautics, Aerospace, Batteries, etc.). Ability to function in a multi-task environment, coordinating or managing the training and technical training components of several projects simultaneously.
