Overview
Sparkman Family Medicine is seeking a dedicated full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients with complex medical and behavioral needs at Nexus Childrens Hospital in Houston. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Pediatric, Family Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry specialists, to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care in a supportive environment focused on long-term recovery and quality of life improvement.
Patient Population
Nexus Childrens Hospital caters to children and adolescents with complex medical, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Key programs include :
- Nexus NEW DIRECTIONS Program : A medical-behavioral program treating young people with medical conditions alongside severe intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDDs), such as Autism Spectrum Disorder. The program promotes medical regulation, reduces behavioral dysregulation, teaches social and behavioral skills, and equips caregivers with tools for ongoing support at home, school, and in the community. This multidisciplinary approach is unique and not offered by other programs.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive primary medical care as the attending team for patients with complex medical and behavioral needs.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with extended hospital stays.Participate in patient care coordination, family communication, and education to ensure holistic care.Provide weekday coverage with rotating weekend shifts among a 3-provider team.Join on-call rotation as needed (no overnight in-house coverage).Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and team discussions to enhance patient outcomes.Qualifications
Masters or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited programCurrent, unrestricted, Family Nurse Practitioner license in the state of TexasBoard certification as an FNP (e.g., AANP or ANCC)PALS / ACLS.Interest and experience in working with children and adolescents who have autism, special needs, behavioral challenges, and complex medical conditionsExcellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teamsCompassionate, patient-centered approach to careBenefits
