Job description

Job Summary

Gembala, McLaughlin & Pecora Co., LPA is a full-service law firm seeking an associate attorney to join its Domestic Relations / Private Services department in Cleveland, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, draft and negotiate a wide range of complaints, motions and other legal documents relevant to family law.
  • Conduct legal research and provide comprehensive counsel and legal support in matters such as adoption, divorce, dissolution, child custody, spousal support, domestic violence civil protection orders, and qualified domestic relations orders.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings and negotiate on their behalf.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Ohio State and Federal laws relevant to family law; appellate and / or probate law a bonus.
  • Foster strong client relationships, offering reassurance and empathetic advice during stressful times.

Qualifications

  • JD from an ABA accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • 0–7 years of family law experience; appellate experience a bonus.
  • Understanding of current state and federal court procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to take ownership of assignments.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organization, time management, and project management skills.
  • Commitment to professionalism, collegiality, and teamwork, and ability to work independently on various projects.
