Design Researcher – Lifetime Products – Clearfield, Utah

Overview

Lifetime Products designs and manufactures consumer goods for major retailers. We are seeking a passionate Design Researcher to conduct in‑depth user research that informs product development and drives user‑centered design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead insight‑driven design : use qualitative and quantitative research methods to uncover meaningful insights about customer needs and pain points.
  • Develop research strategies : create detailed research plans for various product categories, including user testing, contextual inquiries, field studies, and market trend analysis.
  • Collaborate across teams : work closely with industrial designers, engineers, and product managers to provide research‑backed recommendations that influence design decisions.
  • Translate data into design directions : synthesize research findings into clear, actionable insights that inform product design strategy.
  • Test and iterate : lead usability testing sessions, gather direct feedback from end‑users, and iterate on designs based on findings.
  • Foster user‑centered design practices : embed research at every stage of product development to ensure designs resonate with target consumers.
  • Explore emerging trends : stay on the pulse of design, technology, and consumer trends to identify new opportunities for innovation and product differentiation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design Research, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in design research with a strong portfolio of consumer goods projects.
  • Proficiency in qualitative research methods (user interviews, ethnography, usability testing) and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate research findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working in cross‑functional, fast‑paced teams.
  • Familiarity with design thinking, user‑centered design principles, and emerging technologies.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
