Job description

Overview

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Welding and NDT programs. This person will instruct and evaluate students in one or more NDT methods, including but not limited to : liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, radiographic testing, and phased-array ultrasonic testing.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Technology, or closely related discipline. Required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • ASNT Level II or III in RT or UT NDT methods. Preferred
  • Certified Welding Inspector-AWS Preferred
  • EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years of combined industrial experience in non-destructive testing or welding. Required
  • Successful teaching experience. Preferred
  • Experience with outcomes assessment and / or ABET accreditation. Preferred
  • ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, and the public. Required
  • Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, and staff. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Developed organizational skills. Required
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Required
  • Computer literacy in specialty areas. Preferred
  • Possession of a valid driver's license. Preferred
  • Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students in one or more NDT methods, including but not limited to : liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, radiographic testing, and phased-array ultrasonic testing.
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Maintain regular office hours and fulfill all other duties and responsibilities according to contractual guidelines.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities.
  • Contribute to betterment of College through School wide committee participation.
  • Contribute to betterment of College through College wide committee participation. (Marginal)
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Attend School and department meetings as requested by the Dean, Assistant Dean, and / or Department Head.
  • Participate in program review.
  • Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and / or Department Head with the development and maintenance of outcomes assessment plans and documentation.
  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instruct and evaluate student performance in one or more of the following welding areas : Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Flux Cored Arc Welding, and / or welding codes and procedures.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities.

    Pay TransparencyCommensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2025 / 26 academic year is $61,969 – $79,813 College Statement
