The Coronado Fire Department is seeking highly motivated and community-oriented individuals who desire a position in the fire service serving the City of Coronado and will uphold the department's mission statement. The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill any vacancies that may occur within the immediate future.
The Position
Under supervision, responds to emergency medical calls and provides basic life support services to ill or injured persons in accordance with the policies established by the Department of Emergency Medical Services of San Diego County; operates and maintains ambulances, support vehicles, equipment, stations, and communication systems; attends classes and training; performs other duties as required.

A completed City of Coronado employment application and resume must be received by the Human Resources Division. Examination Process :
Applications will be reviewed on the basis of relevant education, training, and experience. Applicants considered most qualified will be contacted and invited to participate in an examination process consisting of an oral interview and skill assessment.
Candidate Selection :
The selected candidate will be issued a conditional offer, subject to the successful completion of background check and medical examination.

All candidates who successfully obtain a passing score in each phase of the exam process will be placed on an eligibility list for a period of at least six (6) months. SICK LEAVE
Part-time, Temporary, and Seasonal (PTS) Employees who work for 30 or more days within a year, will accrue paid sick leave in compliance with the Healthy Workplace, Healthy Families Act of 2014. Leave will accrue at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked beginning on the first day of employment. Sick leave may be used after the 90th day of employment and up to 40 hours in one year.
