Position Reports to : Emergency Department Nurse Manager
Department Description : Wilson Health's Emergency Department is a 14 cardiac monitored beds. The Emergency Department at Wilson Health has received national recognition for exceptionally quick treat release times for patients.
Job Summary : The Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) / Patient Care Technician (PCT) prepares and compiles records in nursing unit of hospital facility and provides essential patient care under direction of Registered Nurse.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Responsible for the computer entry of patient information / registration and physician orders to ensure continuity of care.Assist with the coordination of activities of the unit and ensures the necessary supplies are available to provide patient care.Assure open and timely communication with the patient, their significant others and team members to ensure the occurrence of therapeutic interventions.Under direction of the RN / LPN, assists in meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient on his / her assigned unit. The patient population would include : the young-middle aged adult patient, and the geriatric patient.Under the direction of the RN / LPN, carry out assigned treatments and procedures.The HUC / PCT shall provide care based on ethical concepts, respect for life, dignity, human worth and the individuality of human beings.Qualifications :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) requiredSuccessfully completed an approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program; or three to six months related hospital experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Hospital PCT experience / EMT experience preferred.Ability to read and communicate effectively in English with strong interpersonal skills.Current certification in Basic Life SupportMission & Vision & Values :
